How you’ll make an impact (position summary):
Curriculum Developers work closely with other subject-matter experts, our production team, and an instructional coach to produce immersive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning materials that constitute the core of our curriculum. These materials include videos, assessments, and written learning activities. Curriculum Developers are experts in their fields who thrive when wearing many hats. Our team relies on highly motivated, collaborative, and student-driven individuals.
What you’ll do (responsibilities):
Spend a majority of your time designing and developing ELA educational content (video scripts, assessments, and written materials) for 6-12th grade students
Ensure content is pedagogically sound, engaging, age-appropriate, and accessible for students
Write clear and measurable lesson objectives, and align teaching materials to meet objectives
Use technology, such as Google Slides, Sheets, Docs, and screencasting software
Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student populations and needs
Continuously evaluate and refine content based on feedback and educational outcomes
Collaborate with peers on curriculum development
Give and receive feedback on lessons, course development, and processes

Requirements
You may be a good fit if you have (requirements):
A minimum of 2 years of full-time ELA classroom teaching experience at the 9-12th grade levels (excluding student teaching, tutoring, and supplemental education).
A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education or in an ELA-related field
Familiarity with writing lesson objectives and creating objective-aligned lesson materials
Experience creating well-structured and effective lessons.
Ability to differentiate instruction to make learning accessible, engaging, and age-appropriate
Strong understanding of what makes a lesson engaging
Experience using technology to support instruction, including Google Slides, Sheets, and Docs
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially written
Growth mindset and motivated by constructive feedback
Proven ability to work independently, manage schedules, and meet deadlines
High motivation, a proactive attitude, and a tendency to seek opportunities for continuous improvement
High standards of integrity and transparency
Access to a computer/laptop (with camera) and a reliable high-speed internet connection
What makes you stand out (nice-to-haves):
You have an active teaching certification, and/or you have completed professional development or training in curriculum design and pedagogy
You have hands-on experience designing and writing curriculum, including writing scripts for completely asynchronous video lessons
You have experience teaching and designing lessons for SAT/ACT test prep, or AP courses such as AP English Language and Composition or AP Literature and Composition
You have experience analyzing and transforming data into actionable goals that have positively impacted your students
You have experience with screencasting software or online instruction

Compensation & benefits:
This is an hourly position that requires a minimum of 30 hours a week for full-time status. The expected starting pay range is $25.12 - $34.50 per hour. When working 40 hours per week year-round, this equates to an approximate annual pay range of $52,249–$71,760.
Miaplaza’s compensation philosophy ensures equity and competitiveness while considering the regional differences in living and labor costs. Specific rates will be provided during the hiring process and are aligned with market data and internal equity.
Compensation is evaluated twice per year. Employee compensation is determined by lesson quality, efficiency, and performance.

PTO is all-purpose time off, and combines traditional vacation and paid sick leave plans into one flexible, inclusive policy. Eligible employees can use PTO for all kinds of absences including: vacation, holidays, illness, injury, family leave, and other personal business. Full-time employees receive 16 hours of floating holiday PTO per quarter and accumulate additional PTO at the rate of 1 hour for every 15 hours worked. Annually, this amounts to approximately 139 hours per year, or about 17 eight-hour days on average.
